Our Fall Party will be on Friday, October 30th at 2:30.  Your child may bring a book character costume to change into at school.  Nothing scary and no masks! Remember we have K and Pre-K students here at Westfall.

Wow! Can you believe we are starting our fifth week of school?  Thank you to all the parents who came to the parent meeting a few weeks ago.  I look forward to a great year!  Look for your child’s progress report to come home this Thursday.  Please sign it and return it on Friday.

Also, Friday is Constitution Day and we will be celebrating at Westfall Risin’. As always you are invited.  Our class is going to wear red, white, and blue.

Remember a big part of third grade is memorizing multiplication facts! I encourage you to purchase a set of flashcards to help your child study (I have seen them at Walmart and Dollar Tree).

Please send me a note in the agenda or email if you have questions or concerns.

Testing is around the corner and we are working hard in class to prepare!  I will be giving bonus points for practice at home.  A calendar with websites was sent home in this week’s Thursday folder.   Here are some the sites:  aplusmath.com, funbrain.com, aaamath.com, kidsolr.com and tea.state.tx.us/student.assessment/resources/release/#online.  Please keep a log of time your child spends on the internet studying to be turned in after March 31.

I hope you enjoyed the snow days!  Due to the snow days we will be continuing penny wars through the first week of February.  Also, student council is selling candygrams for $1 in the lobby from 8:30-8:50. Our spring reading challenge kicked off on January 26th. Ask your child how many words s/he needs to read.

Third grade is moving quickly! We are preparing for testing in April.  Third graders are tested on math and reading.  We are practicing everyday to do our very best!  Keep studying multiplication facts.  This year is going very well thanks to supportive parents and curious kids who are excited about learning!

Math homework will be assigned on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Reading assinments will be given every Tuesday and Thursday evening.  A reading test will be given on Friday over the particular reading assignment for the week.  Vocabulary words from the text are always used on the tests. On Thursday,  your child will bring home a spiral in which they have identified the terms to be studied in addition to rereading the assignment.
